To pray is the greatest thing we can do: and to do it well there must be calmness, time, and deliberation… E.M. Bounds
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Right now, because of this unique situation our world is faced with, we have time. Never before have we had such an opportunity to think, to enjoy the simple things, to rest. Truly, this gift can be an opportunity to draw closer to the Lord and to deepen our enjoyment of His presence in our lives. Naturally, our hearts are given to fear, to distraction, to worry, to frustration, or any other number of emotions, if we don’t purposefully keep them fixed on the Lord. Peace is the promised outcome of taking all of our cares to the God who controls it all, and who will lead us by the path that He already knows.
Not only will purposeful prayer keep our hearts within His peace, but there are many others who will benefit from our time spent with Him. Those around us who do not know God’s peace are suffering under their burdens alone and are terrified at what the future holds. God’s beacon of peace shining from our lives can light the way for those struggling in the darkness.
For this month of April, I’d like to start a prayer challenge to specifically pray for one thing throughout the day. Each day there is a need listed with one or more verses to give context to the request. I plan to pray in the morning, and then throughout the day as the Lord brings it to mind. I’m so thankful for those of you who have already shown interest in praying with me. There is a resource that I created to download, if you’d like the calendar in printable form. Click on the download button to access the pdf version. Also, if you have any specific requests, please let me know. I’d like to pray along with you!
